CHRISTINE WILLIAMS -Principal
Since co-founding Goodman Williams Group in 1993, Christine Williams has worked for private- and public-sector clients on assignments involving both residential and commercial land uses. Her insights into historic development patterns coupled with her understanding of real estate and neighborhood trends allows her to assess present and future opportunities with confidence.
The City of Chicago has frequently turned to Ms. Williams for her market expertise. She has had major roles in the preparation of the Central Area Plan, Central Area Action Plan, and Millennium Park Impact Study. For ten years, Ms. Williams has maintained a database with information on all Central Area real estate developments for the City’s planning department—an invaluable tool for analyzing change.
Ms. Williams’ knowledge of Chicago extends to its myriad neighborhoods. She has prepared residential and commercial market studies for large-scale developments proposed for Wilson Yard in Uptown, the Southworks site in South Chicago, and the initial phase (1,151 units) of Riverside Park on the Near South Side.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and its affordable housing developers have been important clients for the last 15 years. Ms. Williams has completed dozens of IHDA site and market studies for proposed developments, acquisition properties, senior buildings, and special-needs housing. Projects have been located in Chicago neighborhoods, Chicago suburbs, and communities throughout Illinois.
Ms. Williams has contributed to dozens of planning studies, demonstrating her understanding of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional land uses and the relationships between them. She has worked with planners to develop strategic plans for neighborhoods, corridors, transit station areas, and suburban downtowns.
With an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies, Ms. Williams chose a career that followed her interest in cities and housing. As a community investment specialist at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, she was involved with Neighborhood Housing Services and other reinvestment programs and strategies. After earning an MBA at Northwestern University, she joined Real Estate Research Corporation (RERC) and became a Vice President of the national consulting and appraisal firm.
